Netflix Unleashes First Teaser For ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 As Team Avatar Heads Into The Earth Kingdom

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, giving fans their long-awaited first look at the Earth Kingdom era of Aang’s journey. The streamer confirmed the new season will arrive in 2026, and the footage wastes no time introducing one of the franchise’s most iconic characters.

Season 2 marks the arrival of fan-favourite Earthbending prodigy Toph, played by Miya Cech (Are You Afraid of the Dark?). She joins returning cast members Gordon Cormier (Lost in Space) as Aang, Kiawentiio (Anne With an E) as Katara, Ian Ousley (13 Reasons Why) as Sokka, Dallas Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu (All My Loving) as Azula, Ty Lee (name not provided in release), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian) as Iroh, Maria Zhang (Continuance) as Suki, and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) as Fire Lord Ozai.

The teaser shows the Gaang noticeably older since first appearing in the 2024 debut season. Following their hard-won defence of the Northern Water Tribe, Aang and his friends now set their sights on the Earth Kingdom. Their mission is to convince its elusive ruler to stand with them against the growing power of the Fire Nation. As ever, this live-action reimagining promises to thread familiar beats from the beloved animated series with new cinematic scope.

Toph’s introduction alone is bound to spark excitement. In the original series, she quickly became one of the most beloved characters thanks to her seismic Earthbending, mischievous sense of humour and the way she forever changed Team Avatar’s dynamic. The teaser hints at her signature fighting style and the creative ways she uses her blindness as an advantage, signalling big things for the journey ahead.

Behind the scenes, the series is shepherded by executive producers Christine Boylan, Jabbar Raisani, Dan Lin, Ryan Halprin, Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim, with direction from Raisani, Anu Menon, Amit Gupta and Hiromi Kamata.
