Rafe Spall, Jenna Coleman and Katherine Kelly Lead Steven Moffat’s Star-Studded Channel 4 Drama ‘Number 10’

Channel 4 has handed the keys to Downing Street to Steven Moffat, as the broadcaster reveals the full cast for Number 10, a new comedy drama produced by Hartswood Films, part of ITV Studios. It marks Moffat’s first project for the channel, and he is very much leaning into the delightful chaos of Britain’s most famous address.

Leading the series is Rafe Spall (Trying, The English), stepping into the role of the Prime Minister. Joining him in the corridors of power are Jenna Coleman (The Serpent, The Sandman) as Deputy Chief of Staff and Katherine Kelly (In Flight, Mr Bates vs The Post Office) as Chief of Staff.

The cast list is a who’s who of British talent, with Akshay Khanna (Murderbot, Critical Incident), Abigail Lawrie (No Escape, The Casual Vacancy), Laura Haddock (What It Feels Like For A Girl, Downton Abbey: A New Era), Jing Lusi (Red Eye, Crazy Rich Asians), Pierro Niel-Mee (Andor, Slow Horses), Rick Warden (Happy Valley, The Sixth Commandment), Joe Wilkinson (Afterlife, The Cookfields), Robyn Cara (Trying, Rainmaker), Richard Rankin (Rebus, Outlander), Rhiannon Clements (The Power of Parker, Vera), Patrick Baladi (The Office, Line of Duty), Shaun Prendergast (Wicked, Industry), Harry Baxendale (The Radleys, Shadow and Bone), Alex Macqueen (The Feud, Seven Dials Mystery), Sid Sagar (The Batman, Slow Horses), Sam Alexander (The Jury; Murder Trial, Sister Boniface Mysteries) and Emer Kenny (Karen Pirie, The Curse).

Moffat is diving into the surreal pressures of life inside the UK’s most overstretched townhouse. The show treats 10 Downing Street as a bustling pressure cooker, crammed with romance, crisis, ambition and the odd conspiracy theorist barista. There’s even a nod to the famous resident cat. The government itself remains intentionally vague, but the problems facing the characters feel pointedly familiar.

Moffat describes the series as Britain in miniature, all under one roof, offering both satire and a surprisingly heartfelt look at how we got into this national mess and how we might get out again. You can feel his glee in the quotes. Rafe Spall calls the scripts sensational. Jenna Coleman jokes about joining another British institution with Moffat. Katherine Kelly is thrilled to reunite with him. And Moffat himself revels in tackling another iconic doorway after the TARDIS and 221B Baker Street.

Behind the camera, the series is executive produced by Moffat and Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films, with Lawrence Till producing and Rachel Stone as co-producer. Ben Palmer, known for Douglas Is Cancelled and The Inbetweeners, will direct.

Number 10 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Channel 4 in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
