Prime Video has released the first teaser and images for ‘Elle‘, the upcoming ‘Legally Blonde’ prequel series, and it seems the streamer is pretty confident in its pink-powered origin story, as the show has already been renewed for Season 2 before Season 1 has even premiered.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Hello Sunshine, the coming-of-age series takes us back to 1995, long before Elle Woods was taking Harvard Law by storm, bending courtroom expectations, and proving that being underestimated is usually just the first mistake people make around her.
Season 1 follows Elle Woods during her high school years, where she is navigating tricky friendships, forbidden romance, family bonds, and, according to the official synopsis, some “questionable fashion choices”. Honestly, given it is the mid-90s, that feels less like a character flaw and more like historical accuracy.
At the heart of the series is Elle’s relationship with her mother, Eva, with the show exploring how the future Harvard icon begins to become the Elle Woods we know and love. Before the law degree, before the courtroom mic drops, and before anyone realised pink could be both a lifestyle choice and a legal strategy, there was high school Elle learning how to survive the chaos.
Lexi Minetree stars as Elle Woods, with June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) as Elle’s mother Eva, and Tom Everett Scott (I’m Sorry) as her father Wyatt. The cast also includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz (Caroline in the City). Recurring cast members include Jessica Belkin (American Horror Story), Danielle Chand, Matt Oberg (Veep), Chloe Wepper (Manhattan Love Story), Logan Shroyer (This Is Us), Sharon Taylor (Altered Carbon), David Burtka (How I Met Your Mother), Brad Harder (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries), Kayla Maisonet (Stuck in the Middle), Lisa Yamada (Cruel Summer), and James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek).
The series is created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), who co-showruns and executive produces alongside Caroline Dries (Batwoman, The Vampire Diaries). Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, and Marc Platt also serve as executive producers, with Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directing the first two episodes and executive producing.
The early Season 2 order is notable, especially in the current streaming landscape, where renewals can sometimes take longer than actual law degrees to arrive. Clearly, Prime Video and Hello Sunshine are betting big on younger Elle Woods being able to charm audiences before she ever sets foot in Harvard.
The series is also part of Prime Video’s Obsession Is In Session initiative, celebrating young adult storytelling and fandom culture. It will be featured at Obsessed Fest, Prime Video’s inaugural immersive fan event, taking place in Los Angeles in June.
‘Elle‘ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 1st July 2026 on Prime Video.
