Brooke Shields Murder Mystery ‘You’re Killing Me’ Lands August UK Premiere On U&DRAMA

Brooke Shields is swapping the catwalk for crime scenes as her new murder mystery series You’re Killing Me arrives in the UK on U&DRAMA this August, with the entire six-part series available as a box set on U from launch.

The light-hearted crime drama stars Brooke Shields (Mother of the Bride, Suddenly Susan) as Allison “Allie” Chandler, a legendary mystery novelist whose once-successful career is beginning to fade. However, her fortunes take an unexpected turn when a fellow author dies during a writers’ convention in her hometown.

Convinced the death was murder, Allie reluctantly joins forces with Andrea “Andi” Wallace, played by Amalia Williamson (Sullivan’s Crossing, Northern Rescue), a cynical Gen Z true-crime podcaster with financial problems of her own.

The pair could hardly be more different. Allie relies on decades of storytelling experience, instinct and her understanding of fictional killers, while Andi brings modern investigative techniques, online sleuthing and a rather less romantic view of the publishing world.

Naturally, they spend almost as much time sparring with one another as they do chasing suspects. Despite their clashing personalities, the duo gradually forms an unlikely partnership, solving a series of dangerous standalone mysteries while attempting to co-write a book together. Somewhere along the way, they might even become friends.

The opening episode of ‘You’re Killing Me’ brings Allie and Andi together at the International Mystery Writers Convention. Their initial clash is interrupted when a critic dies in suspicious circumstances, prompting both women to begin investigating.

As they uncover publishing scandals, hidden motives and an unexpected killer, the amateur detectives also survive a near-fatal attack. The case launches their new partnership, although the disappearance of Andi’s mother and the presence of a mysterious observer suggest there are larger mysteries developing in the background.

The series also stars Tom Cavanagh (The Flash, Ed) as Jack, the new lead detective at the local police department. A former city slicker, he is still attempting to adjust to the various quirks of small-town life while regularly finding himself caught up in Allie and Andi’s investigations.

Although the series is only now making its way to British television, it has already become a major success for Acorn TV in the USA. The broadcaster says it made history as the service’s number one series launch of all time for both subscriber acquisition and viewership.

That success has already earned ‘You’re Killing Me’ a second season, which will once again consist of six hour-long episodes set in the quaint Maine town of Founder’s Cove. Production is due to begin later this year.

“I am crazy happy we get to do a second season of You’re Killing Me,” said Shields. “I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with the talented Robin Bernheim and having the opportunity to act opposite Amalia Williamson and Tom Cavanagh has been a dream. Thank you to all the people at Acorn TV and the whole marketing and creative teams for helping shepherd this show to where it is today. I promise we will continue to deliver the show you all fell in love with… even if it Kills Me.”

The series was created by Robin Bernheim, whose previous credits include When Calls the Heart, Mystery 101, Netflix’s The Princess Switch trilogy and Mother of the Bride, the latter of which also starred Shields.

Bernheim and Shields executive produce alongside Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Michael Volpe for Topsail Entertainment, and Dan March for Dynamic Television. The series is a co-production between Shaftesbury and Topsail Entertainment.

For those who enjoy their murders with witty generational bickering, publishing-world intrigue and an odd-couple investigative partnership, this looks like a promising addition to U&DRAMA’s growing collection of cosy crime dramas.

You’re Killing Me’ premieres Friday, 21st August 2026 at 8pm on U&DRAMA, with all six episodes available as a box set on U from launch.
