Disney+ has released the official trailer for ‘Chad Powers‘ Season 2, with Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man) back as Russ Holliday/Chad Powers for the comedy’s return this September.
The catfish is out of the bag, or at least getting dangerously close to it. The new season finds Chad becoming a superstar on the field, but his increasingly odd behaviour away from it is starting to make people suspicious, particularly Coach Hudson and Gerry. With the walls beginning to close in on Russ Holliday’s elaborate lie, he and Danny need to keep Chad alive through the regular season and somehow get the Catfish into the College Football Playoff.
There is, however, one rather awkward problem. The only person who might be able to help them is Ricky, who also happens to be the last person who wants anything to do with keeping the deception going.
The returning cast of ‘Chad Powers’ also includes Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark) as Ricky, Quentin Plair (Welcome to Chippendales) as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett (Agent Carter) as Tricia Yeager, Frankie A. Rodriguez (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Danny, and Steve Zahn (The White Lotus, Treme) as Coach Jake Hudson.
The half-hour comedy is based on the “Eli’s Places” segment from ESPN and Omaha Productions, and was co-created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron. Eli Manning serves as an executive producer for Season 2 alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart, Craig Lazarus, Dan Cohen, Adam Fasullo and Luvh Rakhe.
The series is produced by 20th Television, with the new six-episode season launching on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally. All six episodes will be available at launch, so there will be no need to wait week to week to discover whether Russ can keep the Chad Powers illusion from finally collapsing.
