Production is now underway on ‘Discretion’, Paramount+’s new eight-episode legal thriller starring Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), Elle Fanning (The Great) and Josh Lucas (Yellowstone), with the A24-produced series set to launch globally in 2027.
Based on a short story by New York Times bestselling author Chandler Baker, ‘Discretion’ follows Lenny, a summer associate at a prestigious Dallas law firm who uncovers a web of NDAs hiding a dark truth. The problem is that Lenny has signed the very same agreement herself, putting her directly in the crosshairs of Sharon, the firm’s powerful female partner and her mentor.
Nicole Kidman plays Sharon, while Elle Fanning stars as Lenny. Josh Lucas is also part of the lead ensemble, although Paramount+ has not revealed details of his role in this latest announcement.
Joining them as newly announced series regulars are Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk) and Colton Ryan (The Girl from Plainville).
James plays Logan, a sharp corporate associate who becomes a mentor to Lenny. Ryan takes the role of Boone, Lenny’s ex-boyfriend, who comes from an affluent Dallas family and is nine months sober, living in a halfway house while quietly trying to rebuild his life.
The setup gives the series plenty to play with, mixing the usual high-powered legal drama with questions around secrecy, power and exactly how much protection a signed NDA really offers when something much darker is being covered up.
Chandler Baker is writing and executive producing the series, with Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Unbelievable) also serving as executive producer. Matt Shakman serves as executive producer and will direct the first four episodes.
Kidman and Per Saari executive produce for Blossom Films, while Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward executive produce for Lewellen Pictures. Joe Hipps of CUT TO and Jordan Cerf of Linden Entertainment also executive produce alongside A24.
‘Discretion’ premieres in 2027 on Paramount+.
