So here we have the first of the award winners from theĀ 3rd Annual GeekTown Awards as voted for by YOU, the Geektowners! We kick off with the ‘Best New TV Show’ category.

Bronze: Fargo (Channel 4)

Landing in 3rd place is the excellent Fargo. Inspired by the classic Coen brothers movie, the first season of the show followed the story ofĀ Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman) who gets mixed up with hitman Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) after accidentally murdering his wife in a fit of rage…

Sliver: True Detective (Sky Atlantic)

2nd place goes to the stunningĀ Nic Pizzolatto dramaĀ True DetectiveĀ starringĀ Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Set over 17yrs the first season of the show follow 2 police detectives on as they attempt to track down a serial killer.

Gold: Gotham (Channel 5)

And the top slot, as voted for by our visitors, isĀ Gotham starringĀ Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon,Ā Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock,Ā David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne,Ā Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, and Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald “Penguin” Cobblepot.

Gotham follows James Gordon as a young new recruit to the Gotham City Police Department, as he tries to navigate his way aroundĀ Gotham’s seedier elements and gangsters, bring some order to the corrupt GCPD, and solve the murder of high-profile Gothamites,Ā Thomas and Martha Wayne, for their son Bruce.

I’m surprised to see flash not up there but gothams still a great show.

Flash just missed out and came in 4th. Gotham was ahead by a long way though. I suspect that’s partly to do with it being on a terrestrial channel and not Sky. :)
