‘Blindspot’ Star Luke Mitchell Takes Lead In ‘The Code’

Luke Mitchell has landed his first major post ‘Blindspot’ role, as he takes the lead in CBS drama The Code from ‘Limitless’ creator Craig Sweeny.

‘The Code’ follows the military’s brightest minds who take on the US’s toughest challenges inside the courtroom and out. Each attorney is not only trained as a prosecutor and a defence lawyer, but also as an investigator, and a marine. The script comes from Craig Sweeny, who created the sadly cut short ‘Limitless’ tv series, alongside ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Boston Legal’ writer, Craig Turk. The pilot was directed by Marc Webb (‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, ‘500 Days of Summer’).

Mitchell takes on the role of Capt. John “Abe” Abraham, who operated out of Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico. According to Deadline, who broke the news, Abe is a “driven prosecutor for whom becoming a Marine is a longstanding family tradition and a responsibility he treats with devotion and passion.”

‘The Code’ was picked up back in May, but on the agreement it would undergo some casting changes and alterations. The role of Abe was originally played by Dave Annable (‘Heartbeat’, ‘Yellowstone’) in the pilot but the network decided they wanted to recast.

Like many of Australia’s great actors, Luke Mitchell started off in ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away’ before moving to the US where he landing a role on ‘The Tomorrow People’ remake. He then went on to star as the Inhuman, Lincoln, in ‘Agents Of SHIELD’, and, most recently, starred as Jane’s wayward brother and criminal mastermind, Roman, on ‘Blindspot’.

The Code is due to come to CBS in the US as a mid-season drama next year (i.e. early 2019), so it’s a little early for a UK pick up. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
