James Gunn has just revealed the full cast line-up for ‘The Suicide Squad’ movie, and there are a few interesting names which have popped up on the list… Although he does warn “Don’t get too attached.”
For those of you who had… issues… with the first David Ayer’s movie, this new iteration aims to wipe away those problems. There will still be some attachment to the first film, as Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) are all back to reprise their roles. However, it is the new names on the list that have us really intrigued.
First up, it seems Gunn has been raiding Marvel’s toy box, as Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Idris Elba, and Taika Waititi are all joining the cast. For ‘Doctor Who’ fans, you have Peter Capaldi in there, and for ‘Firefly’ fans, Captain tight pants himself, Nathan Fillion.
Also on the list is wrestler/actor John Cena (rumoured to be playing Peacemaker), David Dastmalchian (‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, ‘The Flash’) playing Polka-Dot Man, Joaquín Cosío (‘Eastbound & Down’, ‘Narcos: Mexico’), SNL’s Pete Davidson, actress/martial artist Mayling Ng, German actor Flula Borg (‘Counterpart’), Argentine-Spanish actor Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid (‘Euphoria’), Brazilian actress Alice Braga (‘Queen of the South’), Steve Agee (believed to be play King Shark!), Tinashe Kajese (‘Valor’), Daniela Melchior (playing Ratcatcher), Julio Ruiz, and Jennifer Holland (‘Sun Records’).

That is quite a list! Of course, we don’t know who a lot of the new people are playing yet, and we also don’t know how long they will last.. It is ‘The Suicide Squad’ after all! Whilst I wasn’t a huge fan of the first movie, with this cast, and with Gunn behind the camera, I’m really interested to see what happens!
‘The Suicide Squad’ is due for release 6th August 2021.
