Lucifer Season 5 *Might* Not Be The Last We See Of Him

Well, this was unexpected, but there are a number of reports from reliable sources today saying that Lucifer Season 5 might (we stress… MIGHT) not be the last we see of Tom Ellis’ King Of Hell…

Netflix are apparently in conversation with producers WBTV about the possibility of extending the supernatural series past the previously announced 5th Season. The news, which was initially reported by TVLIne and Deadline, says that EPs Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson are keen to continue, but need to sort out a new deal with the streaming service. Of course, the cast would also need new contracts, as they are currently being approached to star in other productions because they believed Season 5 would be the last. However, according to the article, sources close to the production deal are optimistic that a 6th Season is a very real possibility. As a general rule, we do try to avoid posting rumours, but this comes from a reliable source, and previously, it has been the noise from fans which have saved the show. We do stress though, these are only talks, and anything could happen!

The broadcast story of ‘Lucifer’ has been a bit of a rollercoaster! The show was axed by Fox after 3 Seasons during the May 2018 Upfront bloodbath. Fans pushed the show to be the top trending topic worldwide on Twitter, leading to Netflix saving the show for a 4th Season. It was then renewed in June 2019 for a 10-episode 5th and “final” season. However, a month later in July 2019, Netflix announced they had expanded the order to 16-episodes, which would be split into two halves of 8-episodes. It does feel like it is a show Netflix don’t want to let go…

‘Lucifer’ follows Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis), the original fallen angel, who became dissatisfied with his life in hell. Retiring to L.A., he inadvertently teams up with an LAPD detective (Lauren German) to help punish criminals. Joining him on Earth is his angelic brother Amenadiel (Woodside), and his former head torturer demon turned bounty hunter Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt). It was recently announced ’24’ star Dennis Haysbert would be joining the show in Season 5 to play Lucifer & Amenadiel’s father… aka God.

Netflix has not yet given a premiere date for Lucifer Season 5, however, we do know it is 16 episodes split into two halves of 8 episodes and is expected to land in 2020. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
