Netflix has today released the first trailer for ‘Hollywood‘, a new limited series from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, about a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in trying to make it in an alt-history post-World War II Tinseltown. The drama premieres 1st May on Netflix worldwide.
From Murphy and collaborator Ian Brennan (‘Glee’, ‘Scream Queens’, ‘The Politician’), the series follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood try to make it big – no matter the cost. Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day. Provocative and incisive, ‘Hollywood’ exposes and examines decades-old power dynamics, and what the entertainment landscape might look like if they had been dismantled.
The series stars David Corenswet (‘The Politician’) as Jack, Darren Criss (‘American Crime Story’) as Raymond, Jim Parsons (‘The Big Bang Theory’) as Henry Willson, Dylan McDermott (‘American Horror Story’) as Ernie, Patti LuPone (‘Pose’) as Avis, Joe Mantello (‘The Normal Heart’) as Dick, Holland Taylor (‘Two and a Half Men’) as Ellen Kincaid, Jeremy Pope (‘The Ranger’) as Archie, Laura Harrier (‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’) as Camille, Samara Weaving (‘SMILF’) as Claire, Maude Apatow (‘Euphoria’) as Henrietta and Jake Picking (‘Chasing Life’) as Rock Hudson. Mira Sorvino (‘Modern Family’) and Rob Reiner (‘New Girl’) also guest-star.
