Amazon Developing ‘The Boys’ Spin-off Series About A College For “Superheroes”

With The Boys Season 2 in full swing on Amazon Prime, and doing great numbers for the streaming service, they have now decided to fast-track development of a potential spin-off focused on a college for “supes”.

Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (or “supes”), run by Vought International, the potential new series is an irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games – with all the heart, satire and raunch of ‘The Boys’.

The series comes from ‘The Boys’ writer/EP Craig Rosenberg who will write the pilot and serve as showrunner/EP. Creator of ‘The Boys’, Eric Kripke, will also exec produce alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures. ‘The Boys’ EPs Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, who also executive produce on the spin of for Original Film. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will produce the series.

Season 2 of ‘The Boys’ finds the gang on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes centre stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalise on the nation’s paranoia.

The second season switched up the release format for the show, with episodes dropping weekly rather than all at once. This has seen ‘The Boys’ Season 2 become the most-watched global launch of any Amazon Original series with nearly double (+89%) the worldwide viewership of Season 1 in the first two weeks.

The Boys‘ Season 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime UK and worldwide, with new episode arriving on Fridays.
