‘Superman & Lois’ Renewed For Season 4, Alongside ‘All American: Homecoming’. ‘Gotham Knights’ Cancelled At The CW

US network The CW has finally decided the fate of its remaining scripted series. Superman & Lois has been renewed for Season 4, alongside All American: Homecoming which returns for Season 3. Unfortunately, Gotham Knights has not made the cut, and has been cancelled after one season.

Superman & Lois The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin, “Teen Wolf”) and comic books’ most famous journalist, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch, “Grimm”), as they come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever – dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Michael Bishop, “Spin”) and Jordan (Alexander Garfin, “The Peanuts Movie”) have inherited their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older.

All American: Homecoming is a young adult sports drama set against the backdrop of the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) experience at Bringston University, where Black excellence is a way of life. Centered around tennis player Simone Hicks (Geffri Maya), baseball prodigy Damon Sims (Peyton Alex Smith), and the diverse group of friends they have cultivated at Bringston University.

Gotham Knights told the story of a Gotham where Batman is dead, and a powder keg has ignited the city without the Dark Knight to protect it. In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) is framed for killing the Caped Crusader, along with the children of some of Batman’s enemies: Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), an unpredictable fighter and skilled thief who was born in Arkham Asylum and abandoned by her father, Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), a streetwise and acerbic engineer who can fix anything, and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara), a clever transgender teen who is tired of being polite and agreeable. With the charismatic and hard-charging District Attorney Harvey Dent (Misha Collins) and the GCPD hot on their trail, Turner will rely on allies including his best friend and formidable coder Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore), and unlikely Batman sidekick Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson). But our Knights will soon learn there is a larger, more nefarious force at work within Gotham City. This team of mismatched fugitives must band together to become its next generation of saviours known as the Gotham Knights.

“We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW,” commented Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW Network. “These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons.”

Whilst ‘Superman & Lois’ is renewed for 10 episodes and ‘All American: Homecoming’ for 13 episodes, there will be some budget cuts to both shows, which are likely to affect the cast. Both series have a large number of series regulars. Whilst the twelve series regulars on ‘Superman’ are likely to remain, it may affect the number of supporting cast on the series. Meanwhile, ‘Homecoming’ has nine series regulars, some of which may get shifted to supporting roles.

Superman & Lois‘ is the only one of the three to have a UK broadcaster, with the first two seasons having aired on the BBC. We don’t yet have a premiere date for Season 3 in the UK, but we expect it to land at some point over Summer 2023. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
