ITV has set a February premiere date for the return of Liverpool-based comedy ‘G’Wed‘, which is back on ITVX and ITV2 for Season 2.
The second series will continue to tackle life’s big themes with a funny lens whilst keeping Liverpool’s distinctive voice and spirit at its heart. Expect more sharp wit as our Scouse gang navigates new challenges, from age-gap relationships and consent to acceptable ways to make money while still in school.
Reece (Dylan Thomas-Smith), Christopher (Jake Kenny-Byrne), Connor (Max Ainsworth), Ted (Dominic Murphy), Mo (Zak Douglas), Aimee (Amber Harrison) and Mia-Louise (Gemma Barraclough) are all back to portray the lovable scousers.
‘G’wed’ has been a massive hit for ITV. It was the biggest comedy on ITVX in 2024 with its six episodes streamed 7.2 million times, and on linear TV, it was the biggest comedy on any digital channel in 2024 launching with 2.1m viewers. It is also nominated for Best Comedy at the forthcoming 2025 Broadcast Awards and was also nominated for Best Comedy at the RTS NW and Broadcast Digital Awards in 2024
In addition to the main cast, episode one of the new season has a cameo by The Vivienne, star ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK’, who tragically passed away earlier this month. They play a Liverpool nightclub owner who spots Ted’s comedic potential and offers him a spot comparing their drag night. This episode was filmed last Summer and will be dedicated to The Vivienne and will air with the blessing of the family honouring their special talent.
“All the cast and crew were so saddened by the passing of The Vivienne and the first episode will now be dedicated to them,” said Mario Stylianides, Exec Producer of G’wed. “The Vivienne was a trailblazing icon and we were truly honoured when we found out they were a fan of G’wed and equally excited when they agreed to appear in the first episode of the new series. They will always be in our hearts and forever part of the G’wed family.”
The series is produced by Golden Path Productions Ltd and written by Liverpool native Danny Kenny. The Executive Producer is Mario Stylianides. It has already been renewed for Season 3.
‘G’wed‘ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 6th February 2025 with the whole season landing as a boxset on ITVX. It will also air weekly on ITV2 from 10.05pm on the same date.
