Sky has picked up the UK broadcast rights to Seasons 1-4 the utterly brilliant comedy series ‘Hacks‘, starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. Whilst Season 1 & 2 have aired previously in the UK, this will be Season 3’s premiere. They have also acquired the upcoming 4th Season.
The critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning comedy follows Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance, played by Jean Smart, who is forced to team up with Ava (Hannah Einbinder), an entitled, outcast television writer to help salvage her waning career.
When we’re introduced to the characters in season one, Vance is losing her relevance, and the head of the casino wants to reduce the number of her performances. Ava had been ostracised for an “insensitive tweet” and is struggling to find work. The duo realised they could help each other… Albeit reluctantly…
The series has been a massive hit and has drawn praise from both critics and the public across the board. The show has received many accolades including awards from Golden Globes, AFI, Peabody, Critics Choice, DGA, SAG, WGA and GLAAD.
The series stars Emmy, SAG Award, and Critics Choice Award winner Jean Smart and Emmy, SAG Award, and Critics Choice Award nominee Hannah Einbinder alongside Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, J. Smith-Cameron, Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher McDonald, Christopher Lloyd, Tony Goldwyn, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo.
‘Hacks’ is created and showrun by Emmy(R) Award winners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky. It is executive produced by Downs and Aniello via their Paulilu banner, Statsky via First Thought Productions, as well as Emmy Award winners Michael Schur via Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett. The studio is Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
‘Hacks‘ Seasons 1-3 will be available via Sky On Demand and streaming service NOW as boxsets from Friday, 7th February 2025 in the UK. It will also be broadcast on Sky Max from the same date at 9pm. Season 4, which hasn’t yet aired in the USA, will air later this year on Sky in the UK.
