Netflix has released a trailer for the upcoming four-part limited series ‘Toxic Town‘, starring Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood, Robert Carlyle and Rory Kinnear, which tells the story of one of the worst UK environmental scandals, and premieres later this month.
Based on the real-life story of one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals, ‘Toxic Town’ is the story of the people at the heart of the Corby poisonings. Focusing on the mothers, who took on a David and Goliath battle for justice, the series traces through the years of their fight as a terrible truth comes to the surface.
The series comes from multi-award-winning writer Jack Thorne, and stars Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch), Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty, Trainspotting), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Living), Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat, James Bond), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, Spotless), Claudia Jessie (Line of Duty, Bridgerton), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins), Ben Batt (Domina, Scott & Bailey), Stephen McMillan (Boiling Point), Lauren Lyle (Outlander), Michael Socha (Showtrial, This Is England), Karla Crome (Misfits, Am I Being Unreasonable?), Matthew Durkan (Wedding Season, Daddy Issues), Kobi Sadler and Toby Eden.
The drama is written by Jack Thorne, the Bristol-born writer behind shows such as ‘His Dark Materials’, ‘Kiri’, and ‘The Virtues’, along with the ‘Enola Holmes’ movies, and the ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ stage play.
‘Toxic Town’ is produced by Broke & Bones, the company set up by ‘Black Mirror’ creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones. Jones and Thorne exec produce alongside Minkie Spiro (‘Better Call Saul’, ‘Barry’, ‘Fosse/Verdon’), who serves as director. Thorne writes the series, with episode three being co-written by Amy Trigg. Delyth Scudamore produces.
‘Toxic Town‘ premieres Thursday, 27th February 2025 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
