Sky has announced an April UK premiere date for the return of the highly-anticipated 2nd Season of ‘The Last of Us‘.
Based on the critically acclaimed video game, the series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. In season one, Joel (Pedro Pascal – ‘The Mandalorian’), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey – ‘Game Of Thrones’), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Season 2 is set five years after the events of the first season. Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
The returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.
Season one was released in 2023 to universal acclaim, with many reviewers saying it is the best adaptation of a video game so far. It was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards, landing 8 wins. It also picked up multiple SAG awards, a DGA and WGA award, and was nominated for 3 Golden Globes.
Based on the acclaimed video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation consoles, ‘The Last Of Us’ is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells; with writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross. Production companies: PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
‘The Last of Us‘ Season 2 premieres Monday, 14th April 2025 on Sky in the UK, and Sunday, April 13 (9pm ET/PT) on HBO and streaming on MAX in the USA.
