Everyone’s favourite symbologist is heading back to the small screen, as Netflix teams up with bestselling author Dan Brown and prolific showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan, Locke & Key, Bates Motel) for a brand new Robert Langdon series, arriving in the not-too-distant future.
The new show will be based on Brown’s upcoming novel The Secret of Secrets, the latest entry in the globe-trotting mystery-thriller saga that’s captivated readers worldwide. The story sees Professor Robert Langdon, the ever-curious Harvard expert in symbols and ancient codes, on a race against time and ancient forces to find a missing scientist. At the heart of the mystery is a groundbreaking manuscript, one that could rewrite everything we know about the human mind.
While the series title is still under wraps, it promises to blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering the kind of high-stakes international intrigue, secret societies, and ancient puzzles that have become the Langdon trademark.
Dan Brown, who co-created the series with Carlton Cuse, will serve as writer and executive producer, while Cuse takes on showrunner duties alongside writing and EP roles. Emma Forman also joins the production as an executive producer for Genre Arts.
Langdon’s literary journey began with Angels & Demons in 2000, but it was 2003’s The Da Vinci Code, and the blockbuster Tom Hanks film adaptation, that truly cemented his place in pop culture. Since then, Brown has written a string of Langdon bestsellers, including The Lost Symbol, Inferno, and Origin. His latest, The Secret of Secrets, hits bookshelves on Tuesday, 9th September 2025.
This isn’t the first time the character has been adapted for television. Peacock previously produced a series based on The Lost Symbol, starring Ashley Zukerman as a younger Langdon. Despite some promise, the show was cancelled after just one season.
No casting has been announced yet for The Secret of Secrets, so it remains a mystery who will next take on the role of Langdon. But with production gearing up, it won’t be long before clues begin to surface…
The as-yet-untitled ‘Robert Langdon Series‘ does not have a premiere date but will air on Netflix worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
