Another brilliant MCM Comic Con London wrapped up at the ExCeL Centre this October, and once again it delivered a spectacular weekend of geeky joy, this time with an added slice of gaming thanks to EGX, which joined the party for the second time. From celebrity guests and creative cosplay to artist showcases and indie games, the whole event felt like one big celebration of fandom.
The EGX section took over around a third of one of the halls, offering everything from small indie experiments to headline titles. The biggest crowd magnet was LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, playable for the first time in the UK and drawing fans of all ages. Ubisoft also brought a hands-on demo of Anno 117: Pax Romana, which I confess I kept wandering back to between interviews. (Watching people carefully manage Roman trade routes is surprisingly hypnotic.) I also had the chance to interview the Ubisoft Mainz team about bringing the series to the Roman Empire, which you can watch below.
If you’ve never experienced MCM Comic Con, imagine a three-day carnival of TV, film, anime, games, and pop culture mayhem. It’s friendly, open, and inclusive, a place where you can go all-out with cosplay or just wander in casual gear without anyone batting an eye. Go with friends, go solo and make new ones, or bring the whole family. There’s something for every kind of fan.
To get a sense of the scale and atmosphere, here’s a brilliant 360 walkthrough from our friends at Comic-Con News:
Highlights from the Main and Live Stages
Friday: Final Fantasy, God of War, and More
Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Remake, appeared with voice actors John Eric Bentley (Barret), Briana White (Aerith), Britt Baron (Tifa), and Paul Tinto (Cid), giving fans an update on the trilogy. Hamaguchi confirmed the third part is absolutely going ahead and joked that he was heading straight back to his hotel to check new levels once the panel wrapped.
Christopher Judge and Sunny Suljic, the father-son duo of God of War, followed with hilarious and heartfelt stories from the set. Judge discussed working with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises, teased the idea of exploring the Egyptian pantheon in a future God of War, and admitted he mains Eddy in family Tekken 8 tournaments because “the hair game’s on point.”
Saturday: Mintz-Plasse, Ghosts, and Classic Gaming Legends

Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad, How to Train Your Dragon) brought full McLovin energy to the Main Stage, sprinting into the audience and delivering an unfiltered, very funny chat about filming Superbad at 17 (with his mum on set for the infamous scene) and calling for the Oscars to finally respect comedies.
Meanwhile, Laurence Rickard and Martha Howe-Douglas, co-creators and stars of Ghosts and Horrible Histories, shared behind-the-scenes stories and hinted that new projects are “bubbling away.” Laurence joked about watching international versions of Ghosts without knowing what anyone was saying but still recognising his own lines.
We also have an interview with Laurence and Martha, recorded on Friday morning by our friend Rich Johnston from Bleeding Cool:
Over on the Live Stage, fans of classic gaming were treated to a 25th-anniversary celebration for Perfect Dark and TimeSplitters, with developers Steve Ellis and David Doak recalling the freedom of the early Rare days and the decision to make Joanna Dark a strong female lead inspired by La Femme Nikita.
Sunday: The Boys, Mass Effect, and Predator: Badlands

Sunday kicked off with a ‘The Boys’ reunion as Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, and Tomer Capone filled the stage with chaos. Urban confirmed that Season 5 will finally reveal how Butcher got his scar, and the cast celebrated two Guinness World Records for “Most In-Demand Action-Adventure TV Show” and “Most In-Demand Superhero TV Show.”
Then came a heartfelt Mass Effect panel with Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, Ali Hillis, and Alix Wilton Regan, who reflected on the franchise’s impact and the future of voice acting in an AI-powered world. Hale summed it up best: “AI is a tool like a hammer, but audiences will always crave the sacred signal of the human soul in performance.”

The weekend wrapped with the world of Predator: Badlands. Director Dan Trachtenberg joined stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi for a lively Q&A, complete with surprise footage and hidden premiere tickets taped under audience seats. Schuster-Koloamatangi revealed he’s now the only fluent speaker of the Predator language, and Fanning laughed about filming in eel-infested waters that Trachtenberg “forgot” to mention.

Time was short this event, but I still caught up with our friends at Twisted Comics, who have smashed their Kickstarter for the Black Mirror: USS Callister comic. They’re now fulfilling backer orders, and you can read the first 20 pages for free here.
Next up for them? A San Junipero adaptation. Perfect choice.

It makes me sad how EGX is disappearing under the current event owners. Used to be a highlight of the year.
