Taylor Sheridan To Leave Paramount For Huge NBCUniversal Deal… But His ‘Sheridan+’ Shows Stay Put

by Dave Elliott

Paramount is about to lose the man who built half its streaming empire, as Taylor Sheridan signs a major new five-year film and TV deal with NBCUniversal, starting in 2029. However, Yellowstone fans can relax, because Sheridan’s current series will stay right where they are on Paramount+ and CBS.

The deal, confirmed by Deadline, marks the end of an era for Paramount, where Sheridan’s work has been the backbone of the service. From Yellowstone and its growing family of spin-offs to Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Landman, his shows have defined the platform so completely that many jokingly call it “Sheridan+.”

Sheridan’s long-time producing partner David Glasser and 101 Studios are also on the move, signing a first-look deal with NBCUniversal beginning in early 2026, once they have completed their Paramount projects. Sheridan’s own new deal does not begin until his current contract finishes at the end of 2028, meaning he will keep delivering new seasons and projects for several more years.

This shift comes after the Skydance acquisition of Paramount Global, which has already caused a shake-up behind the scenes and some major creative signings across the industry. The combined company recently pulled in Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer from Netflix, proving that the battle for big-name talent is far from over.

Sheridan has been one of Paramount’s most valuable creative forces, delivering a string of cinematic-scale hits that helped shape the modern prestige drama landscape. His Yellowstone universe alone has become a global phenomenon, while Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Landman and Lioness continue to dominate viewing charts. He also has three more Yellowstone spin-offs on the way, The Dutton Ranch (aka Beth & Rip), The Madison and Y: Marshals, along with CBS reality project The Road.

For now, the Sheridan empire remains safely under the Paramount banner. When the calendar turns to 2029, NBCUniversal will take the reins and look to build its own universe of American frontier stories.

Taylor Sheridan’s current Paramount deal runs through 2028, with his new five-year NBCUniversal agreement beginning in 2029. All of his existing Paramount and Paramount+ series will remain with the studio.
