There’s something quietly magical about discovering where our favourite bits of geek culture actually come from. Not the glossy studio version, but the strange, scrappy human stories underneath. The arguments, the obsessions, the fan movements, the odd decisions and inspired accidents that ended up shaping the worlds we love.
So… we made a show about it.
This December, Geektown is launching Geekstorians, a brand new documentary-style podcast hosted by Dave, taking a deep dive into the origins of modern geekdom. Think of it as a guided tour through the lesser-known corners of geek history. The lost moments. The turning points. The conversations that sparked entire communities. The cultural butterfly effects that nobody saw coming until they were already happening.
Rather than a chatty roundtable, Geekstorians is a full narrative series. Each episode plays out like a mini audio documentary, complete with cold opens, music cues, sound design and a proper story structure. It’s been months in the making and built to be something you can sink into. If you’ve ever wondered how fandoms took shape, how technology nudged culture in unexpected directions, or how certain ideas snowballed into global phenomena, this is very much your corner of the multiverse.
Season One sets the tone. Instead of sprinting through decades of geeky landmarks, we’re starting right at the beginning and working our way forward. The focus is on the people, the spark, and the moment everything started to shift. We won’t spoil the specifics, but expect a mix of history, culture, technology and those delightful “wait, that actually happened?” moments.
