This week on Geektown Radio, Dave is joined by Darryl from Hollywood North News for a packed episode covering the February BAFTAs, a heartfelt tribute to the late Eric Dane, fresh impressions from several new shows, a report from the London Anime & Gaming Con, and a solid run of UK and US TV news.
What We’ve Been Watching
Darryl has been busy. He brings early thoughts on ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order’, the third entry in the Anne Rice universe on Netflix, and whether it works if you haven’t seen ‘Mayfair Witches’ or ‘The Vampire Lestat’. He’s also been into ‘Cross’ Season 2 on Prime Video, reporting back on whether it matches the quality of the first. There are impressions from the first three episodes of ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3 on Netflix, and some thoughts on Ryan Murphy’s new Disney+ series ‘The Beauty’ that might save you some time.
Darryl also attended the London Anime & Gaming Con at Novotel London West in Hammersmith and has a full report on what worked, what didn’t, and what to expect if you’re thinking of going to a future event. (Hint: it’s part of the Anime League circuit, which runs events across the UK throughout the year.)
Dave has been catching up on ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’, ‘The Rookie’ Season 8, ‘Watson’, ‘Matlock’ Season 2, and has finished ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 4, which ends with a very interesting casting development for Season 5.
The BAFTAs 2026
The February BAFTAs had some great storylines. ‘One Battle After Another’ dominated, but the upset of the night was Best Leading Actor, where almost every pundit had Timothée Chalamet locked in. The result was something else entirely. Meanwhile, ‘Marty Supreme’ walked in with 11 nominations and walked out with nothing, setting a rather unwanted record.
There is also a lot to discuss around the moment that dominated post-show coverage, involving real-life Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson, who was in the audience as a guest of ‘I Swear’, the film based on his life. Dave talks through what happened, why the BBC’s handling of it was the real issue, and why a lot of the online reaction badly missed the point.
On the lighter side, Warwick Davis delivered some excellent Tom Cruise jokes, and Emma Stone had a memorable encounter with a bag of Hula Hoops.
A Tribute to Eric Dane
Dave takes a moment to remember Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy, The Last Ship, Euphoria, Countdown), who passed away on 19th February 2026 at the age of 54 following his battle with ALS. Netflix recently released his episode of Famous Last Words, the series where people record an interview knowing it will only be released after they’ve gone. If you haven’t watched it yet, it is genuinely worth your time.

TV News: Renewals, Cancellations & Pick-Ups
UK cancellations this week include ‘You Bet’, ‘Jeopardy! UK’, ‘Virdee’, and ‘No Strings Attached: The Really Rude Puppet Show’. On the brighter side, ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’ and ‘The Floor’ are both coming back, and there is an ABC renewal status update covering most of their major shows.
In terms of new projects, Peter Krause (9-1-1) is circling a new NBC pilot that could extend his remarkable 27-year unbroken primetime run. First-look photos have arrived for Shemar Moore‘s ‘S.W.A.T. Exiles’, which has completed filming but still doesn’t have a broadcaster in either the US or the UK. Robert Carlyle has joined ‘Line of Duty’ Series 7. And the Fox ‘Baywatch’ reboot has landed its first returning cast member from the original series.
