Apple TV Renews Horror-Comedy ‘Widow’s Bay’ For Season 2 Ahead Of Finale

by Dave Elliott

Apple TV has renewed Widow’s Bay for a 2nd Season, with the news landing just ahead of the season one finale this June.

The genre-bending horror-comedy comes from creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold, with Hiro Murai executive producing and directing five episodes of the first season. Alongside the renewal, Apple TV has also signed Dippold to a new multiyear overall deal.

Recently described in Apple’s very serious and not-at-all-suspicious tourist messaging as “better than Martha’s Vineyard,” ‘Widow’s Bay’ follows Mayor Tom Loftis, played by Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Perry Mason), as he attempts to revive his struggling island community and turn it into a tourist destination. Unfortunately, the locals are convinced the island is cursed. Even more unfortunately, they appear to be right.

With no Wi-Fi, patchy mobile signal, a deeply unconvinced population, and a mayor who would very much like people to respect him despite being, by the show’s own description, “soft and cowardly,” the island’s old stories begin crawling back into reality just as tourists finally start arriving.

“From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew and the entire team have created,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming, Apple TV. “It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”

“Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about,” said creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold.

Yes, that sounds entirely reassuring. No red flags there at all.

Blending genuine horror with character-driven comedy, ‘Widow’s Bay’ stars Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Perry Mason) alongside Kate O’Flynn (Landscapers, Everyone Else Burns), Stephen Root (Barry, Office Space), Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll (The Leftovers, Snowfall) and Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone, A League of Their Own). The supporting cast includes K Callan (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Knives Out) and Emmy Award-winner Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere).

The series hails from Apple Studios and is created, showrun and executive produced by Katie Dippold. Hiro Murai executive produces through his banner Chum Films alongside Carver Karaszewski, Claudia Shin and Matthew Rhys. Murai directed five episodes in the first season, with the remaining episodes directed by Ti West, Sam Donovan and Andrew DeYoung.

Widow’s Bay Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Apple TV. ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1 finale premieres Wednesday, 17th June 2026 on Apple TV.
