Channel 4 Sets October UK Premiere Date For Humans Season 2

Today Channel 4 have announced Season 2 of hit drama Humans will return Sunday, 30th October 2016 at 9pm.

Set in a near future where humans have come to use ‘synths’ as android servants, the show starts with the Hawkins family who get synth Anita (Gemma Chan) to help out around the house. Things start to go awry when it becomes apparent Anita is something more than an ordinary synth. She is part of a group of synths who had a ‘consciousness code’ buried in their system, and Leo Elster (Colin Morgan), son of synth creator David Elster (Stephen Boxer), is determined to get her back.

As season 2 starts, synth Niska (Emily Berrington) is still at large and in possession of the consciousness code. Her synth family, Mia (Chan), Leo (Morgan) and Max (Ivanno Jeremiah), unaware of her location, are each trying to find their place in the world while Joe (Tom Goodman-Hill) and wife Laura Hawkins (Katherine Parkinson) attempt to mend their marriage. As unconfirmed reports of synths behaving inexplicably surface, the ripple effects of one simple yet seismic decision sees the past return, dramatically and surprisingly, to the door of the Hawkins household.

In the US, Milo Khoury (Marshall Allman), a young Silicon Valley billionaire, founder and CEO of a leading technology company is pioneering new research. But he needs help and attempts to recruit Dr Athena Morrow (Carrie-Anne Moss) – the country’s pre-eminent Artificial Intelligence expert. Suspicious of his motives, and focussed on her own work, Morrow is single-minded in her drive to create a new kind of machine consciousness.

As an emerging form of intelligent life – the synths – and an established one – humanity – fight for their places in the world, a thrilling multi-stranded narrative evolves which continues to ask: who has the right to determine what it means to be alive?

Original based on award-winning Swedish sci-fi drama ‘Real Humans’, season 1 of Humans became a huge hit when it launched last year, giving Channel 4 their highest rated drama in 20 years.

You may have noticed some of the brilliant social media marketing and ‘advertisements’ over the past few weeks for Persona Synthetics, a company desperately trying to ‘recall’ their faulty synth models. If you have one, you can report it here via live messenger chat with one of their synth operatives…
