Geektown Awards 2013: Winner – Best Theme or Music Composition for a TV Show 2013

by Dave Elliott

Happy New Year to you all! Just time to put out the last few award winners for our Geektown Awards 2013. Next up, Best Theme or Music Composition for a TV Show 2013…

5th place went to Sean Callery for his wonderfully playful work on Sky Living’s Elementary. 4th place goes to Nate Barr for his stunning and quirky work on  True Blood, although I would like to point out, if you rolled together the votes Nate got for True Blood and his other show The Americans, that would have pushed him into 3rd place. As it stands though, 3rd place goes to Rolfe Kent & Daniel Licht for Dexter. 2nd place went to tv and film composing giant, Bear McCreary for Walking Dead, although he’s also the man responsible for Battlestar Galactica, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Cape and Da Vinci’s Demons. But finally, the winner is…

Winner: Ramin Djawadi – Game of Thrones

Once again Game of Thrones take the top Award. Not only does the music set the scene brilliantly in the title sequence, but also helps provide gravity and tension throughout the show… And that’s a show with a lot of tension! Ramin is also responsible for the music in tv shows such as Prison Break and Person of Interest along with movies such as Guillermo Del Toro’s  Pacific Rim and the sound track to the 2010 Medal of Honor video game.
