Benedict Wong & Jack Reynor Join ‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams is shaping up to be a very interesting looking series. Hot on the news that Timothy Spall would star in the first episode (or the first to be shot anyway), more casting has dropped for ‘Impossible Planet’, the second episode to go into production.

Jack Reynor (Macbeth, Free Fire, Jungle Book) and Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, The Martian, Top Boy), lead the cast of ‘Impossible Planet’ as two disillusioned, disenchanted and indifferent space tourism employees who take up an elderly woman’s (Geraldine Chaplin, A Monster Calls, Doctor Zhivago) request for a trip back to Earth… the existence of which is a long-debunked myth. She appears easily confused, plus she’s rich – so, for the right payment, what’s the harm in indulging her fantasies? As the journey unfolds, however, their scam begins to eat away at them and they ultimately find themselves dealt a bittersweet surprise.

Also featured in ‘Impossible Planet’ are Justin Butcher (Let Me Go), BAFTA-winner Georgina Campell (Broadchurch, Flowers), Bekka Bowling (Loaded, Quacks), Christopher Staines (Wolf Hall, Mrs. Dalloway), and Malik Ibheis (Silent Witness).

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams is a 10-part sci-fi anthology series, and this episode is written and directed by David Farr (The Night Manager, Hanna, McMafia), and based on Dick’s short story ‘The Impossible Planet’.

Other writers involved in the upcoming episodes include Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), Michael Dinner (Justified), Tony Grisoni (Red Riding, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), Matthew Graham (Life on Mars, Doctor Who), Dee Rees (Mudbound) and Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim). Jack Thorne (National Treasure, Skins, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) scripted ‘The Commuter’ starring Timothy Spall, which was the first episode to be shot, with Tom Harper (War & Peace, Peaky Blinders) directing.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams was commissioned by Channel 4, who will air the series later this year in the for UK and by Amazon Prime Video in the US.
