Jesse Eisenberg has gone from tormenting the Man Of Steel, to join J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot to produce, write, direct and star in a new half-hour single-camera comedy it was announced today.
According to Deadline, the new show is called The Market, and centres on Harold Katzman, a recently widower, who moves to Pittsburgh to live with his adult son Stan (played by Eisenberg). Both men simultaneously lose their jobs due to the changing American economy, and are thrust into an unforgiving job market.
Eisenberg is exec producing along with Abrams and Ben Stephenson from Bad Robot, with WBTV as the studio.
Although Eisenberg is best know for his film work in movies such as The Social Network, and playing Lex Luthor in the DCU, he is a man of many talents. He has written a number of plays, and most recently wrote and starred in The Spoils along with Game Of Thrones’ Alfie Allen and Big Bang’s Kunal Nayyar, which ran in the West End to great reviews. He’s also a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, and has written a collection of short stories called Bream Gives Me Hiccups.
Bad Robot are of course the production company behind a string of great tv shows, including Alias, Lost, Person of Interest, Fringe, Revolution, 11.22.63, and Westworld. Their latest project is a psychological horror based on the stories of Stephen King called Castle Rock for Hulu in the US.
