As we hurtle headlong into the Summer, it’s traditionally a time when TV slows down a little, as we all wait for the return of those big Autumn shows. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing out there for you to watch! Here are our Top 5 shows you should be watching on UK TV this July!
Colony, Season 2 – Sky1 – 5th July 2017 at 9pm
‘Colony‘, Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain) and Ryan Condal’s (Hercules) critically acclaimed sci-fi drama returns for a 2nd season, which follows life in a near-future Los Angeles which has been taken over by an alien intelligence.
In an effort to get their son back, Will (Josh Holloway – Lost, Intelligence) has been cooperating with the Collaborators and now knows about his wife Katie’s (Sarah Wayne Callies – The Walking Dead, Prison Break) alliance with the Resistance. With her secret out, and now find themselves on opposite sides of the battle, have they jeopardised any hope reuniting their family?
Zoo, Season 3 – Sky1 – 07 July 2017 at 9pm
https://youtu.be/JKeh_-gosxw
The wonderfully bonkers ‘ZOO‘ returns for its 3rd Season and things have taken a turn for the worst. Starting with a 10-year time jump, the cure that Jackson (James Wolk) and the team released did work on the animals, but had the unfortunate side-effect of making all humans infertile. It also didn’t stop the mutant animals from escaping the island, and they are now rampaging through the continent. Additionally, it seems that Mitch (Billy Burke), who we thought had sacrificed himself to save the group on the island, is very much alive, and his, now grown, daughter Clementine (Gracie Dzienny) wants Abraham (Nonso Anozie) to help rescue him. It’s a brilliantly crazy show, and there’s never a dull moment!
How To Get Away With Murder, Season 3 – Sky Living – 13th July 2017 at 9pm
After being unceremoniously dumped by Universal, ‘How To Get Away With Murder‘ finally, returns to the UK for its 3rd season. When we left the gang, things weren’t going so well. Annalise Keating (Viola Davis – Suicide Squad, Fences) had learnt that Frank (Charlie Weber) was responsible for the car accident which caused the death of her unborn child years earlier, which leads to him skipping town. It’s also revealed that Annalise had known Wez’s (Alfred Enoch) father Wallace, but just as the father and son meet for the first time, a shot rings out, and daddy dearest is taken down. I’m sure we’ll find out what happened when the show comes back this month!
Game Of Thrones, Season 7 – Sky Atlantic – 17th July 2017 at 2am
It’s a few months later than usual, but finally, it’s time to head back to Westeros, as ‘Game Of Thrones‘ returns for it’s 7th Season. Jon Snow is King Of The North. Cersei is Queen after blowing up the Great Sept and Tommen taking up skydiving without a parachute. Daenerys is on a boat heading to Westeros, flanked by Tyrion, now Hand of the Queen, Yara Greyjoy and, of course, her 3 dragons. Things are about to kick off… big time!
Midnight Texas, Season 1 – Syfy UK – 27 July 2017 at 9pm
And finally, we have ‘Midnight Texas‘, a new series based on the latest book trilogy by ‘True Blood’ author Charlaine Harris. Adapted by Monica Owusu-Breen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Revolution, Fringe), the show is set in a small Texas town, where no one is quite what they seem… Your neighbours could be vampires, witches, a werewolf and even an angel. The town must band together like a somewhat dysfunctional family to fend of outsiders, such as biker gangs and over-zealous police.
