BBC One has released the first trailer for upcoming drama ‘Life‘, from the makers of ‘Doctor Foster’, which premieres Autumn 2020 on the UK broadcaster.
Set in Manchester, ‘Life’ follows the stories of the residents of a large house divided into four flats. As each of the four stories unfold and intertwine in surprising ways, they tell a larger story about what happens when we step out of our personal space and take a closer look into other people’s lives. ‘Life’ explores love, loss, birth, death, the ordinary, the extraordinary and everything in between.
Although the show isn’t being billed as a spin-off from ‘Doctor Foster’, it does have a couple of characters in it you will know… Victoria Hamilton is set to reprise her role from ‘Doctor Foster’, however, she is now going by the name of “Belle”, rather than Anna, and seeking to rebuild her life anew. Later on in the series, Adam James will reprise his role as “Belle’s” now ex-husband, Neil.
Hamilton’s Belle is now a Pilates teacher, whose neatly ordered life is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of her chaotic 15-year-old niece Maya, played by Erin Kellyman (‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, ‘Raised by Wolves’).
The rest of the cast includes:
Alison Steadman (‘Gavin & Stacey’, ‘Hold the Sunset’) as Gail, who is about to celebrate her 70th birthday when a chance encounter throws her whole life into question. She is married to Henry, played by ‘Doctor Who’ star and former ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ vet, Peter Davison.
Adrian Lester (‘Riviera’, ‘Hustle’) plays David, who is happily married to Kelly, played by Rachael Stirling (The Bletchley Circle’, ‘Detectorists’). However, he finds himself conflicted by temptation when he meets the impulsive Saira, played by Saira Choudhry (‘Coronation Street’, ‘No Offence’) on holiday.
Melissa Johns (‘Coronation Street’) portrays heavily pregnant Hannah, who is happily coupled up with safe and stable Liam, played by Joshua James (‘Absentia’). However, has her plans upended by the return of Andy, played by Calvin Demba (‘Hollyoaks’, ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’), with whom she had a passionate one-night stand nine months previously…
