FOX UK has picked up the single-season of Bradley Whitford’s cancelled choir comedy ‘Perfect Harmony‘ it has been announced.
Inspiration is found in the most unlikely places and former Princeton music professor Arthur Cochran (Bradley Whitford, ‘The West Wing’, ‘Handmaid’s Tale’) is the first to find out. Arthur unexpectedly stumbles into choir practice at a small-town church, only to find a group of singers that are out of tune in more ways than one. Painful as the sound may be, this awful choir turns out to be just the distraction Arthur needs to keep on living.
Reluctant at first, Arthur rejects the idea of helping the choir prepare for a competition, but new information quickly changes his mind. As his difficult personality and ways of directing push Ginny (Anna Camp, ‘Pitch Perfect’) and her choir to their limits, they continue to pay for his rudeness. Whilst Ginny conquers her stage fright by finding her alter ego and inner diva, Reverend Jax (Rizwan Manji, ‘Schitt’s Creek’) gets caught in an uncomfortable rift between Dwayne (Geno Segers, ‘Pair of Kings’) and Ginny’s ex-husband Wayne (Will Greenberg, ‘Workaholics’). Later, Arthur is faced with a choir rebellion and decides to take on the group’s alpha, Adam (Tymberlee Hill, ‘Search Party’) at their annual deer-hunting trip.
The show was created written by Lesley Wake Webster whose has previously worked on ‘Life in Pieces’, ‘New Girl’ and ‘Speechless’. Webster and Whitford exec produced alongside Winer and Jon Radler of Small Dog Picture Company for 20th Century TV. The series was cancelled by NBC after one season.
‘Perfect Harmony‘s one and only season premieres Sunday, 1st November 2020 at 10pm on FOX UK.
