Bollywood To Remake Forrest Gump
The Oscar-winning film starring Tom Hanks will have its own Bollywood remake. India will adopt this gem of international cinema, and we are here to tell you what the new film will be like.
Forrest Gump became the film of a whole generation, especially of those patriotic Americans. In the film, the protagonist explores many of the events that had great importance and repercussions in modern American history, from the best days of the king of rock, Elvis Presley, to the Vietnam War.
India is a country that is betting a lot in different sectors so that its citizens can enjoy all possible entertainment, not just cinema.
On the one hand, for example, some of the best live casinos online can be found in Indian countries. It is now possible to play with a real dealer, which will provide an authentic experience. Also, no matter how low or high the stakes are, the player will always be accepted. The user can also benefit from bonuses, regardless of whether he plays for real money or for free. All you need is a good internet connection and, if you want to play on the go, a mobile device to download the app on iPhone or android.
On the other hand, Amazon has also made a commitment to women in its logistics department, further advancing the equality that is barely making an appearance in the country’s society.
What is known about the remake of Forrest Gump
The production company Viacom18 Studios recently presented the first trailer of the remake, titled Laal Singh Chaddha. With one of the biggest stars of Bollywood, as well as one of the most sought after in the country.
We are talking about Aamir Khan, who during an interview shared that he has been almost ten years working on this film. The reason is that he had to make sure he had all the rights to be able to adapt it, and when he had them, he started editing it taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aamir Khan will play Laal, the protagonist of this remake. Alongside him will be Mona Singh, who will play his mother, and Naga Chaitanya. The latter will be Bala of Bodipalem, the Indian version of Bubba.
During the trailer, we meet Laal, who has a motor disability. He must endure the various taunts of his classmates as he has to live with orthopedic braces, as well as having a rather peculiar simplistic view of life.
As in the original, his mother is the only one who takes a stand against her son’s daily mistreatment, assuring that the young man is a completely normal student. He also has some encounters with different historical figures of the country, goes to war and has a small scene with the famous quote “run, Laal, run”.
The film will be released in Indian cinemas on 11th August, but it is not yet known when it will be released in other cinemas around the world.
Differences between the Tom Hanks version and the Bollywood remake
The original version of the film was released in cinemas on 6th July 1994. Its plot tells the story of a young man, whose life is linked to many of the most important events that have taken place in the modern history of the United States and the world in general. Some of these events are the Moon landing, the Kennedy assassination, the creation of Apple, and the release of the song “Imagine”.
The remake will not take any of these events into account but will replace them with those that were of vital importance in Indi. It will give its protagonist the opportunity to meet many of the political and cultural personalities of his country.
In addition, Laal will not fight in the Vietnam War but will join the army just as India enters the war with Pakistan, leading up to the Kargil War that began in 1999.
Another difference is that, while in the original the protagonist tells the story of his life sitting on a bench waiting for a bus, in the Bollywood version he will do the same but on board of a train. However, Forrest’s famous phrase “life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get” will be replaced in the new version by comparing people to golgappas. These are small loaves of bread made from wheat flour that can be filled with potatoes, peppers, cucumbers or meat.
