Disney+ has released some “first look” photos and announced a March premiere date for Season 2 of the brilliant super-powered comedy ‘Extraordinary‘.
If you’ve yet to catch this show, it introduces Jen (Máiréad Tyers), a young, self-aware woman who lives in a world where everyone has a superpower… except her. It’s a comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world when all you’ll ever be is “ordinary”. It is a celebration of the anti-superhero, permitting people to embrace their general okay-ness.
Season two picks up where season one spectacularly left off, following Jen on her powers journey as she enrols as a client at the power clinic. Jen soon discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped, and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing either. Ex-cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord (Luke Rollason) has had an unexpected revelation about his past, and Kash (Bilal Hasna) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham) are attempting to be totally mature and dignified about their break-up, which is not easy when they’re still living under the same roof. It seems that Jen and the gang are dealing with new levels of adulting and chaos that none of them are prepared for.
Siobhán McSweeney and Robbie Gee return in season two as Mary and Ian, Jen’s mum and stepdad. The new cast this season includes Julian Barrett (The Mighty Boosh) as George, Jen’s power coach at the Discovery Clinic; Rosa Robson (Buffering) as Nora, an unexpected person from Jizzlord’s past; Kwaku Mills (Urban Myths) as Clark, Carrie’s new work colleague; and the acting legend and national treasure Derek Jacobi, who will voice a special cameo role.
The comedy is written by series creator Emma Moran, and directed by Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan. ‘Extraordinary’ is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind ‘Killing Eve’. Charles Dawson, Johanna Devereaux and Emma Moran also serve as executive producers. Charlie Palmer is Series Producer with Abíólá Rufai-Awójídé as Producer.
‘Extraordinary’ Season 1 is streaming right now on Disney+ UK if you want to catch up (and we urge you do, as it is hilarious!) For those of you in the UK without Disney+, you can also find Season 1 for free on ITVX from Monday, 12th February 2024.
‘Extraordinary‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 6th March 2024 on Disney+ UK and around the world, except the USA where the series airs on Hulu.
