BBC Unveils First Look at ‘Return to Paradise’ Season 2

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released first-look images for the second series of Return to Paradise, the Australian Death in Paradise spin-off set in the picturesque yet crime-plagued town of Dolphin Cove. Coming soon to BBC iPlayer and BBC One, the new six-part season sees Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke (played by Anna Samson (Wakefield, Home and Away)) returning to tackle even more perplexing cases, all while navigating some complicated personal drama.

The opening images give us a glimpse of Mack back in action alongside Glenn Strong, played by Tai Hara (Home and Away), and Colin Cartwright, portrayed by Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso). Their teamwork may be tested though, as Mack continues to process the end-of-season-one revelation that Glenn, her ex-fiancé, still harbours feelings for her despite his upcoming wedding. Colin, meanwhile, tries to balance friendship and duty as he helps organise Glenn’s stag party while working cases with both of them.

Series regulars also return, including Catherine McClements (Wentworth) as Senior Sergeant Philomena Strong, Celia Ireland (Wentworth) as Reggie Rocco, Aaron L. McGrath (Total Control) as Constable Felix Wilkinson and Andrea Demetriades (Janet King) as Daisy Dixon. The show will also welcome a line-up of Aussie guest stars across the run, among them Danielle Cormack, Meyne Wyatt, Roz Hammond, Justine Clarke, Michelle Lim Davidson, Greg Stone, Zoe Carides, Simon Lyndon, and Miah Madden. Music fans will be intrigued to see Tim Rogers, frontman of iconic band You Am I, make a guest appearance, while Death in Paradise favourite Ardal O’Hanlon reprises his role as DI Jack Mooney.

Season two promises more sun-soaked murder mysteries, including the chemical poisoning of a man found alone at sea and a troubled rock band who become prime suspects when one of their members turns up dead. On top of the murder cases, Mackenzie must face Glenn’s startling confession that he still loves her, while Colin’s own past resurfaces when old friends arrive in Dolphin Cove, threatening the new life he’s tried to build.

‘Return to Paradise’ is produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia and Red Planet Pictures, co-created and executive produced by Peter Mattessi, James Hall and Robert Thorogood. Writing duties are shared by Mattessi, Alexandra Cullen, Alexandra Collier, Chelsea Cassio and Marisa Nathar, with directing by Tenika Smith and Helena Brooks.

The series has already proven a global success, with BBC Studios licensing it to over 93 territories. The first season won the Silver Logie for Best Drama at the 2025 Australian Logie Awards and is available now on BBC iPlayer.

Return to Paradise’ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date but is “coming soon” to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
