First Look: ‘Daddy Issues’ Season 2: Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey return for more Stockport chaos

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released the first look at Daddy Issues Season 2, the heart-warming and hilariously awkward comedy starring Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) and David Morrissey (The Walking Dead). The series returns later this year on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and BBC Three, with things in Stockport getting even messier.

The new photos show Gemma (Wood) and Malcolm (Morrissey) adjusting to life with the newest member of the family, baby Sadie. Gemma is doing her best to embrace motherhood, while Malcolm is absolutely thrilled to be a grandad. Naturally, that means Derek, played by David Fynn (Undateable), is never far behind, because wherever Malcolm goes, Derek tends to follow.

Good thing Gemma has backup from best friend Cherry (Taj Atwal, Hullraisers), sister Catherine (Sharon Rooney, My Mad Fat Diary), and boss Rita (Sarah Hadland, Miranda). A surprise visitor soon forces both Gemma and Malcolm to confront some big emotional truths and possibly a few spectacularly bad life choices.

Created and written by Danielle Ward (Brassic), the six-episode comedy is produced by Fudge Park Productions, with Damon Beesley (White Gold) and Ward also directing. The returning series follows a hugely successful debut run that launched to 2 million viewers and became BBC Three’s biggest comedy since the channel’s relaunch.

‘Daddy Issues’ is a Fudge Park production for BBC Three and iPlayer, produced by Lynn Roberts (Man Like Mobeen), and executive produced by Phil Gilbert, Aimee Lou Wood, David Morrissey, Danielle Ward, and Damon Beesley. Fremantle handles global sales.

Daddy Issues’ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on the BBC in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
