Netflix Unleashes the First Five Minutes of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5… And It’s Absolutely Terrifying

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has opened the portal early, dropping the first five minutes of the long-awaited final season of Stranger Things, and it’s every bit as eerie and nostalgic as fans could hope.

In a scene that takes us right back to the show’s origins, the clip opens in 1983, revisiting the moment the town of Hawkins was first shaken by the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). The episode, titled “The Crawl”, begins deep within the shadowy forest of the Upside Down, where Will hides in a makeshift fort. His brief moment of calm is shattered by a familiar cracking sound, signalling the approach of a Demogorgon. What follows is a frantic chase through the crimson-lit nightmare, culminating in Will’s capture by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who emerges from the darkness with the chilling line, “At long last, we can begin.”

The sneak peek premiered during a virtual Stranger Things 5 watch party, giving fans a first glimpse at what the Duffer Brothers have called the show’s most intense and lore-heavy chapter yet. Season 5 dives straight into the chaos, abandoning the usual slow build for a full sprint into action. “We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element,” said co-creator Ross Duffer. “But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”

Brother and co-creator Matt Duffer added, “Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore… their movement is restricted, and there are Big Brother cameras everywhere.”

The new season will also pull deeper from the show’s mythology, including ideas first mapped out in a 25-page document the Duffers wrote before Season 1. Ross confirmed that “the last remaining questions that are answered in that document” will finally pay off in Season 5.

Fans won’t have to wait long to find out what happens next. The first four episodes of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will arrive on Netflix in November, followed by three more on Christmas, and The Finale on New Year’s Eve. Expect high stakes, emotional reunions, and one last descent into the darkness of the Upside Down.

Stranger Things’ Season 5 premieres Wednesday, 26th November 2025 on Netflix.
