Eric Dane’s ‘Famous Last Words’ Episode Now Streaming On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

When Netflix announced ‘Famous Last Words’ last year, it sounded almost unreal. A posthumous interview strand where cultural figures sit down with Brad Falchuk in complete privacy, knowing the conversation will only be released after their death.

The first episode, featuring Dr. Jane Goodall, set the tone. Now, the series continues with an episode centred on Eric Dane, and it is every bit as intimate and difficult to watch as you might expect.

Recorded in November 2025, the interview took place as Dane was living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, a progressive neurological disease that affects muscle control. He understood the format. He understood the timing. This would air when he was gone.

As with previous instalments, the conversation is stripped back. No audience. No panel. Just Falchuk and Dane in a quiet studio, filmed by remotely operated cameras. The effect is disarming. There’s no room for performance.

Dane reflects on his life with a mix of bluntness and warmth. He describes himself not as the confident leading man many knew from screen roles, but as someone who could feel “lonely in a crowded room.” He speaks about addiction, trauma that affected him “on a cellular level,” the love of his life, and the peace he had made with what was coming.

The final moments follow the format established by the series. Falchuk leaves the stage. Dane turns directly to camera. His last public words are addressed to his daughters.

“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall we had a blast, didn’t we?”

He shares four lessons he says the disease taught him. Live in the present. Fall in love with something that drives you. Choose your friends wisely. And fight with dignity.

“This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”

He closes simply.

“Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words.”

When Netflix launched ‘Famous Last Words’, Falchuk described it as “moving, odd, and transcendent.” This episode proves exactly what he meant. It is not a traditional documentary. It is not a glossy career retrospective. It is a final conversation, delivered without spectacle.

‘Famous Last Words’ featuring Eric Dane is streaming now on Netflix.
