‘The Capture’ Series 3 Trailer Released As BBC Confirms March Premiere Date

The BBC has dropped a new trailer and premiere date for the acclaimed surveillance thriller, with Holliday Grainger leading a stellar cast for another tense and timely series

The BBC has released an extended first-look trailer for The Capture Series 3, and it looks like the hit surveillance thriller is back with a bang. Arriving on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in March, the new series once again puts Holliday Grainger (Strike) front and centre as Acting Commander Rachel Carey, now heading up Counter Terrorism Command in the wake of the explosive events of Series 2.

The trailer teases a brutal and meticulously planned act of terror aimed at the heart of the British establishment, leaving Carey with just one witness and an increasingly dangerous geopolitical conspiracy to unravel. With deepfakes, disinformation, and a surveillance state already baked into the show’s DNA, Series 3 looks to be raising the stakes considerably.

Returning cast members include Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You) as Isaac Turner, Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) as BBC News presenter Khadija Khan, Ben Miles (The Crown) as Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif, and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) as CIA agent Frank Napier. Also back are Andy Nyman, Nigel Lindsay, Tessa Wong, and Daisy Waterstone.

Joining the show for Series 3 are Killian Scott (Dublin Murders), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones), Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch), Hugh Quarshie (Holby City), Amanda Drew, Linus Roache, and Jonathan Aris (Sherlock).

The series picks up 12 months after Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister to the nation, blowing the lid off the intelligence service’s covert video manipulation programme known as Correction. Now, amid an inquiry into the unlawful use of Correction, she’s pushing a new initiative called Operation Veritas in a bid to rebuild public trust in surveillance technology. Naturally, that’s when everything goes sideways.

Created, written, and executive produced by BAFTA award-winner Ben Chanan, ‘The Capture’ Series 3 is directed by Anthony Philipson, Johnny Allan, and Ben Chanan, and produced by Derek Ritchie. It’s a Heyday Television production, part of Universal International Studios, for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

If you haven’t caught up yet, the first two series of ‘The Capture’ are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. Well worth a binge before March.

The Capture Series 3 premieres Sunday, 8th March 2026 on BBC iPlayer (from 6am) and BBC One (at 9pm) in the UK, with new episodes dropping weekly every Sunday.
