FOX has handed ‘Memory of a Killer‘ an early Season 2 renewal, with the Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter: Original Sin) and Michael Imperioli (The White Lotus, The Sopranos) thriller set to return in the 2026 to 2027 US season.
The renewal comes after a strong start for the drama, which FOX says has reached 16.2 million viewers across platforms and encores. The broadcaster also claims the premiere is now broadcast’s highest-rated drama telecast this season, along with becoming FOX’s most-streamed series to date. So yes, for a show about a man losing his memory, audiences seem to have remembered to tune in just fine.
Inspired by the book and the 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer, ‘Memory of a Killer’ follows Angelo, a man living two very different lives. On one side, he is Angelo Doyle, a deadly New York City hitman. On the other, he is Angelo Flannery, a photocopier salesman, widower, and father living a quieter life upstate. The problem is that his carefully separated worlds start crashing together just as his memory begins to fail, and the death of his wife starts to look far more suspicious than it first seemed.
Alongside Dempsey, the cast includes Imperioli as crime boss Dutch Forlanni, Richard Harmon (Final Destination: Bloodlines) as Dutch’s nephew Joe, Odeya Rush (Dangerous Waters) as Angelo’s daughter Maria, Daniel David Stewart (Reacher) as Jeff, Peter Gadiot (Queen of the South) as detective Dave Woods, and recurring guest star Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star) as FBI Agent Linda Grant.
Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, said: “Memory of a Killer has become a true standout with visceral performances from Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli. Aaron Zelman, Glenn Kessler, and our partners at Warner Bros. Television have delivered a sharp, emotional character-driven thriller that’s clearly landed with viewers, and we’re excited to continue that success together in Season Two.”
Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks, added: “We’re thrilled Fox has renewed Memory of a Killer for a second season, a richly deserved renewal given the show’s great critical, creative, and commercial success. The performances of Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli have been powerful and compelling, and we can’t wait to see what the show’s brilliant creative team has in store for Angelo’s next chapter.”
Season 1 of ‘Memory of a Killer‘ is currently streaming on Prime Video UK, so this renewal should give British viewers another reason to jump in now before the next chapter arrives.
