‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 3 To Return This June On HBO Max

by Dave Elliott

The war for Westeros is set to get even bloodier this June, as House Of The Dragon returns for its third season on HBO Max and Sky.

Based on George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire)’s Fire & Blood, ‘House Of The Dragon’ is set around 200 years before the events of ‘Game Of Thrones’, charting the rise, fall, and outright implosion of House Targaryen. Season 3 picks up with the realm now deep in the Dance of the Dragons, as the civil war between rival branches of the family continues to tear everything apart.

The newly released teaser leans hard into the scale of the conflict, with dragons unleashed, battle lines drawn, and the various alliances around Westeros looking more fragile than ever. With Season 2 ending with both sides moving toward all-out war, Season 3 looks set to deliver the fallout in spectacular fashion.

The returning cast includes Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel), Steve Toussaint (It’s A Sin), Rhys Ifans (Berlin Station), Fabien Frankel (The Serpent), Ewan Mitchell (The Last Kingdom), Tom Glynn-Carney (Domina), Sonoya Mizuno (Maniac), Harry Collett (Casualty), Bethany Antonia (Stay Close), Phoebe Campbell (The Last Kingdom), Phia Saban (The Last Kingdom), Jefferson Hall (Vikings), Matthew Needham (Sherwood), James Norton (Happy Valley), Tom Bennett (PhoneShop), Kieran Bew (Warrior), Kurt Egyiawan (Beasts Of No Nation), Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Clinton Liberty (Normal People), Gayle Rankin (GLOW), Abubakar Salim (Raised By Wolves), Tom Cullen (Knightfall), Tommy Flanagan (Sons Of Anarchy), Dan Fogler (The Walking Dead), Joplin Sibtain (Andor), and Barry Sloane (Revenge).

Behind the scenes, Ryan Condal returns as co-creator, showrunner and executive producer, with George R.R. Martin also serving as executive producer. Additional executive producers include Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.

Given where things left off, it looks like Season 3 is wasting absolutely no time getting to the fire, blood, and family trauma. Which, to be fair, is pretty much what this franchise does best.

House Of The Dragon’ Season 3 will arrive on HBO Max on 22 June 2026 and on Sky. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Sky, NOW, and HBO Max.
