‘Only Murders In The Building‘ is packing its podcasting kit and heading across the pond for Season 6, with Hulu’s hit murder-mystery comedy assembling a frankly ridiculous line-up of UK and Irish guest stars for its London-set new season.
Production is currently underway in the UK on the sixth season, marking the first time the series has ventured outside the US. The new run will once again follow Charles, Oliver and Mabel, played by Steve Martin (The Jerk), Martin Short (The Morning Show) and Selena Gomez (Wizards Of Waverly Place), as the crime-solving trio leave New York behind to investigate a new mystery in London.
The latest batch of recurring cast additions includes David Tennant (Doctor Who), Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), Jim Broadbent (Harry Potter), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Adrian Lukis (Pride And Prejudice) and Kathryn Hunter (Andor).
They join the previously announced recurring guest stars Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Sean Teale (Skins), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Amar Chadha-Patel (Willow), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) and Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters).
As if that was not already enough to fill a very suspicious Tube carriage, the Season 6 cast also includes Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Geri Halliwell-Horner (Spice World), Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats), Anjana Vasan (Killing Eve), Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous), Derek Jacobi (Last Tango In Halifax) and Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey).
The plot for Season 6 is being kept under wraps, although the Season 5 finale pointed the trio towards a London-based royal scandal, suggesting Charles, Oliver and Mabel are about to find themselves dealing with murder, mayhem, and possibly the most chaotic transatlantic true-crime podcast ever recorded.
There is no word yet on exactly who the new cast members are playing, but the line-up gives the new season some very British murder-mystery flavour. Tennant and Whittaker, of course, bring a double dose of Doctor Who energy, Broadbent and Hunter add a sprinkling of Harry Potter, while Coughlan, Ashley, Horgan, Saunders and Ayoade give the guest cast a wonderfully eclectic mix of comedy, drama and scene-stealing potential.
