‘Rivals’ Renewed For Season 3 On Disney+ As Season 2 Part 2 Lands This November

by Dave Elliott

Disney+ has confirmed Rivals will be back for a third season, with twelve new episodes ordered ahead of the return of Season 2 Part 2 this November.

Based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s iconic Rutshire Chronicles novels, the International Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning drama has continued to prove a major hit for Disney+, with Season 2 becoming the streamer’s biggest-ever EMEA original premiere in the UK and Ireland.

The second half of Season 2 will bring another six episodes of scandal, romance and gloriously messy rivalries to Disney+ in the UK and internationally, and Hulu in the U.S. The first six episodes of Season 2 are available to stream now, alongside the whole of Season 1.

As Season 3 picks up after the scandalous revelations of Season 2, the stakes are set to get even higher in Rutshire. Alliances become more fragile, secrets refuse to stay buried, new romances blossom, old flames rekindle, and everyone seems to have something to lose. Which, let’s face it, is exactly how we like it in this particular corner of the Cooperverse.

“The phenomenal response to Rivals is a credit to the bold, irreverent and endlessly entertaining world created by Dame Jilly Cooper, our cast, creative team and production partners at Happy Prince. We’re delighted to be bringing audiences a third season on Disney+/Hulu. Expect more ambition, more romance, more rivalries and, of course, more scandal as we return to Rutshire for another irresistible chapter.”

Said Lee Mason, Vice-President, Scripted, Disney+ EMEA.

Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Chief Creative Officer of Happy Prince and Alexander Lamb, Creative Director of Happy Prince added:

“We’ve been delighted and overwhelmed by the audience’s response to season two of Rivals – testament to the hard work from everyone working on Rivals both on and off screen. Our one sadness is that Jilly didn’t get to witness the love for season two. But she’s still very much with us in spirit and would be so delighted that season three has been greenlit. We’re so thrilled to continue to work with Disney as we dive deeper into the Rutshire Chronicles and expand the Cooperverse even further.”

Season 3 of ‘Rivals’ is made by Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios, and will be executive produced by Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Alexander Lamb, Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade, and Felicity Blunt. The series was commissioned by Lee Mason, VP Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA.

All episodes of Season 1 and the first six episodes of Season 2 are available to stream now on Disney+.

Rivals’ Season 2 Part 2 premieres in November 2026 on Disney+ in the UK. If I want to keep track of this or any other shows, I can add them via our Never Miss system, and I’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss
