‘Vigil’ Season 3 Teaser Sees Suranne Jones & Rose Leslie Head To The Arctic For A Chilling New Case

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released a chilling new teaser trailer for Vigil Season 3, as Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster) and Rose Leslie (Game Of Thrones) return as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre for a brand-new case on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this year.

The six-part third series, made by World Productions (Line Of Duty, Until I Kill You, Showtrial), swaps submarines and drones for something even frostier, as Amy and Kirsten are sent to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead.

As you might expect with ‘Vigil’, this is not just a straightforward murder investigation. Amy and Kirsten will have to catch the killer while also trying to defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate. No pressure then. To make matters even more complicated, both their careers and their relationship are also on the line.

Returning alongside Jones and Leslie are Gary Lewis as DS Robertson and Dominic Mafham as Sir Ian Downing.

The new cast for Season 3 includes Jeppe Beck Laursen (The Last Kingdom, The Trip), Steven Miller (Dept. Q, Shetland), Naomi Yang (Under Salt Marsh, Wolfe), Benjamin Wainwright (Maigret, Belgravia: The Next Chapter), Tornike Gogrichiani (Extraction 2, Drops of God), Danusia Samal (Red Eye, The Great), Artur Zai Barrera (The Old Man, Lucky), Jordan Duvigneau (Mood, Stolen Girl), Kaisa Hammarlund (Hijack, Grace), Adam Fidusiewicz (FBI: International, A Gentleman in Moscow), Eric Godon (In Bruges, Anna), Conor Berry (Karen Pirie, Schemers), Amy Manson (Rebus, Bodies), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows, The Ballad of a Small Player), Steven Cree (All of You, Heads of State), Killian Coyle (Shetland, Endeavour), Derek Riddell (Industry, Happy Valley), Alma Prelec (Secret Service, Fifteen Love), Dawn Sievewright (Undertow, Shetland) and Shereen Cutkelvin (Summerwater, Crime).

‘Vigil’ Season 3 is written and created by Tom Edge, with additional writers Tom Mair and Eve Hedderwick Turner. Marcus Wilson serves as producer, with George Aza-Selinger as associate producer. Executive producers are Jake Lushington for World Productions, Gaynor Holmes for the BBC, and Tom Edge. Stephanie Fyfe is the Commissioning Executive for the BBC.

The series is directed by Gareth Bryn (Karen Pirie, The Gathering) and Faye Gilbert (The Bay, The Tower), with international distribution handled by ITV Studios.

Vigil’ Season 3 premieres later in 2026 on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. If I want to keep track of this or any other shows, I can add them via our Never Miss system, and I’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
