Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Enola Holmes) and David Harbour (DTF: St. Louis, Stranger Things) are heading back to Netflix together, although this time there are no Demogorgons, Upside Down nonsense, or questionable small-town parenting decisions. Probably.
The pair will reunite as daughter and father in a brand-new, currently untitled spy drama from A24, which has been handed a straight-to-series order at Netflix. The series comes from Emmy-winning writer Jack Thorne (Adolescence, Lord of the Flies, Wonder), who will write and executive produce.
The drama follows disgraced FBI agent turned security expert Matt Wolfe, played by Harbour, who is pulled back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter, Rebecca, played by Brown, disappears while on a mission. Now an FBI agent herself, Rebecca had been determined to follow in her father’s footsteps, forcing Matt to return to a field that has moved on without him.
“We are delighted to bring this spy drama to life with an extraordinary group of talent we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with before,” says Jinny Howe, Netflix head of scripted series, US and Canada. “Jack Thorne’s ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite — this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis — is something audiences are going to love. A24 is the perfect partner to bring this story to our members around the world.”
Alongside starring in the series, Brown and Harbour will also executive produce. Jake Bongiovi and Robert Brown executive produce for PCMA Productions, alongside Joe Hipps and Patrick McDonald for Cut To, and KC Wenson for Bravo Axolotl.
The project also marks a return to Netflix for Thorne, following his work on ‘Adolescence’, which became a major hit for the streamer, alongside his adaptation of ‘Lord of the Flies’. With A24 involved, the reunion of two of Netflix’s biggest Stranger Things stars, and Thorne behind the script, this one immediately lands in the “worth keeping an eye on” pile.
The untitled Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour spy drama does not yet have a premiere date on Netflix.
