Prime Video has found its leads for ‘Things We Never Got Over‘, the upcoming series adaptation of Lucy Score’s hugely popular contemporary romance novel, with Molly Griggs (The Residence, John Proctor is the Villain), Matthew Noszka (All’s Fair, No Hard Feelings) and Tommy Martinez (Good Trouble, Laid) joining the cast.
Production is now underway on the Amazon MGM Studios series, which will stream exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.
‘Things We Never Got Over’ follows runaway bride Naomi Witt, played by Griggs, who arrives in the quirky town of Knockemout, Virginia, intending to rescue her estranged twin sister Tina and then get back to the life she left behind.
Things do not exactly go according to plan. Tina disappears, leaving Naomi with a niece she never knew existed, along with an assortment of colourful locals who suddenly become part of her life.
Among them are charming local sheriff Nash Morgan, played by Martinez, and his considerably grumpier brother Knox Morgan, played by Noszka. As Naomi attempts to untangle the mess her sister has left behind, Knockemout begins looking rather less like a temporary stop and much more like somewhere she might actually belong.
Griggs will be pulling double duty in the adaptation, playing both Naomi and her troublesome twin Tina. Alongside her role as White House Social Secretary Lilly Schumacher in Netflix’s The Residence, her previous TV work includes Succession, Servant, Prodigal Son, Dr. Death and FBI: Most Wanted.
Noszka recently appeared as Chase, the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian’s character Allura, in Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair. His other credits include No Hard Feelings, Star, Let It Snow, Perfect Addiction and Marked Men.
Martinez is best known for playing Gael Martinez in Good Trouble and has also appeared in Laid, Riverdale, Hunters, The Mosquito Coast and Bosch. His upcoming projects include Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, alongside Emily Blunt, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo.
The series is based on the first novel in Score’s Knockemout trilogy. Published in 2022, Things We Never Got Over spent 32 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and became one of Kindle Unlimited’s most-read titles. The trilogy was completed with two further novels in 2023.
Score has now sold more than 15 million books worldwide across 35 languages, so Prime Video certainly has an established audience waiting to see whether Knockemout can make the jump from page to screen.
Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder have written the pilot and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Gina Girolamo executive produces through Strega Stories, while Lucy Score serves as co-executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios produces the series.
Prime Video has not yet announced a premiere date for ‘Things We Never Got Over‘.
