CBS Releases 8 New Show Trailers Including ‘Evil’, ‘Tommy’, ‘All Rise’, ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ & ‘The Unicorn’

CBS released a stack of trailers for their new season shows last night. They include psychological supernatural drama Evil from the creators of ‘The Good Wife’, Edie Falco cop drama Tommy, ‘FBI’ spin-off FBI: Most Wanted, Walton Goggins comedy The Unicorn, courtroom drama All Rise starring ‘Luke Cage’s Simone Missick, Bob Hearts Abishola from ‘Big Bang Theory’s Chuck Lorre, Carol’s Second Act starring ‘The Middle’ Emmy Award winner Patricia Heaton, and comedy Broke starring ‘NCIS’s Pauley Perrette.

Evil

Evil is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series focuses on a sceptical female psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter as they investigate the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.

The drama comes from ‘The Good Wife’ creators Robert and Michelle King, with Katja Herbers (‘Westworld’), Mike Colter (‘Luke Cage’), Michael Emerson (‘Lost’, ‘Person Of Interest’) and Aasif Mandvi (‘Blue Bloods’, ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’) starring.

Tommy

Tommyis a police drama which sees Edie Falco star as Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female Chief of Police for Los Angeles. She uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate the social, political, and national security issues that converge with enforcing the law.

Joining Falco on the series are Adelaide Clemens (‘Rectify’), Joseph Lyle Taylor (‘Sneaky Pete’), Michael Chernus (‘Patriot’), Russell G. Jones (‘The Americans’), and Olivia Lucy Phillip (Broadway’s ‘Frozen’). The drama comes from Paul Attanasio, creator of the critically acclaimed ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’, and legal drama ‘Bull’.

FBI: Most Wanted

FBI: Most Wanted centres on the Fugitive Task Force of the FBI that tracks and captures the notorious criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. The drama comes from ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Chicago’ franchise mastermind Dick Wolf.

Julian McMahon (‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘Marvel’s Runaways’) leads the cast as FBI Agent Jess Lacroix, with Kellan Lutz (‘Twilight’) as Agent Crosby and Alana De La Garza (‘Law & Order’) as Assistant Agent in Charge Isobel Castille.

All Rise

All Rise is a courthouse drama that follows the chaotic, hopeful and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors and public defenders, as they work with bailiffs, clerks and cops to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal process. Among them is newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick – ‘Luke Cage’), a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney who doesn’t intend to sit back on the bench in her new role, but instead leans in, immediately pushing the boundaries and challenging the expectations of what a judge can be.

The drama also stars Jessica Camacho (‘The Flash’s Gypsy), Wilson Bethel (‘Daredevil’) and Marg Helgenberger (‘CSI’, ‘Under The Dome’). The series comes from Greg Spottiswood (‘Remedy’, ‘King’) and is exec produced by Len Goldstein (‘Manifest’, ‘Powerless’) and Mike Robin.

The Unicorn

The Unicorn is a single-camera comedy about a tight-knit group of best friends and family who helps Wade (Walton Goggins) embrace his “new normal” in the wake of the loss of his wife one year ago. As a sometimes ill-equipped but always devoted single parent to his two adolescent daughters, he is taking the major step of dating again. To Wade’s amazement, he’s a hot commodity with women, and his friends explain that he’s the perfect single guy – a “unicorn”: employed, attractive, and with a proven track record of commitment. With his daughters and best friends rooting him on and hoping he’ll find happiness again, Wade and his healing heart are ready to try life… and love… again.

Walton Goggins (‘Justified’, ‘Deep State’) leads the cast with Rob Corddry (‘Ballers’), Michaela Watkins (‘Casual’), Omar Benson Miller (‘Ballers’, ‘CSI: Miami’), Maya Lynne Robinson (‘The Conners’), Ruby Jay (‘Fancy Nancy’) and Makenzie Moss (‘Puppy Star Christmas’). The comedy is written by Bill Martin and Mike Schiff (‘Fam’, ‘3rd Rock from the Sun’).

Bob Hearts Abishola

From award-winning creator, executive producer and writer Chuck Lorre, Bob Hearts Abishola is a love story about a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola’s (Folake Olowofoyeku – ‘Transparent’) lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob (Billy Gardell – ‘Mike and Molly’) is determined to win Abishola’s heart, in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.

Carol’s Second Act

Emmy Award winner Patricia Heaton stars in Carol’s Second Act, a comedy about a woman who embarks on a unique second act after raising her children, getting divorced, and retiring from teaching: pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. At age 50, Carol is a medical intern and must sink or swim with peers who are half her age. It’s her enthusiasm, perspective and yes, even her age, that may be exactly what will make her second act a great success.

Kyle MacLachlan (‘Twin Peaks’) co-stars along with Ito Aghayere (‘Instinct’, ‘Elementary’), Jean-Luc Bilodeau (‘Baby Daddy’) and Sabrina Jalees. The series comes from Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins (‘Good Girls’, ‘Black-ish’).

Broke

Broke follows an outrageously wealthy trust fund baby who is cut off by his father, so he and his wife move into her estranged sister’s Reseda home, forcing the two siblings to reconnect.

Pauley Perrette (‘NCIS’) land Jaime Camil (‘Jane the Virgin’) lead the cast along with Natasha Leggero (‘Dice’), Izzy Diaz (‘Snowfall’) and Antonio Corbo (‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’). The series is written and created by Alex Herschlag (‘Will & Grace’), with Jennie Snyder Urman (‘Jane the Virgin’) serving as EP.

As with all the shows announced recently, it’s way too early for any UK premiere information yet, but we’ll let you know when we have something.
