ABC Wants More ‘Revenge’ As Network Puts Follow-Up Series In Development

ABC is out for ‘Revenge’... Or rather, more ‘Revenge’, as the US network puts a follow-up to the series which starred Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe into development.

The original series followed the story of Emily Thorne (VanCamp), a young woman who is welcomed into the posh Hamptons community. What the residents failed to realise was that Emily was only there to exact revenge on those who had destroyed her family.

According to Deadline, who broke the story, this new series would follow a young Latinx immigrant, who is guided by one of the original series’ characters, as she arrives in Malibu to exact revenge on a Sackler-esque pharmaceutical dynasty, whose insatiable greed led to the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family, and a global epidemic.

The new show would be written by original series creator/exec producer Mike Kelley, along with original series writer-producer Joe Fazzio. Temple Hill (‘The Twilight Saga’, ‘Mr. Mercedes’) and ABC Studios would produce the series. There are no new actors attached to the potential new drama yet. However, as mentioned in the description, one (or possibly more) of the original cast could make an appearance to bridge the gap between the two shows.

The original ‘Revenge’ premiered in 2011 to an audience of 10 million and was a huge breakout hit for ABC at the time. It lasted 4 seasons before it’s viewing numbers begin to fall away, eventually ending in 2015. The series did pick up a number of awards and nominations, including a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination for Madeleine Stowe.

The new series, which will also apparently be titled ‘Revenge’, is only in development at the moment, but we’ll let you know if it moves forward.
