Samuel L. Jackson isn’t quite ready to hang up his eyepatch, as news lands that Disney+ are developing a ‘Nick Fury‘ series for the streaming service.
Actual details about the series are somewhat secretive at the moment, but then what would you expect, it is Nick Fury after all! What we do know is Kyle Bradstreet, whose previous work includes the wonderful ‘Mr. Robot’, alongside ‘Berlin Station’ and BBC America’s ‘Copper’, is set to write and exec produce.
Nicholas Joseph “Nick” Fury (for the six people who somehow missed ten years of Marvel movies) is a world-renowned spy, former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the man who brought together the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jackson first appeared as Fury in the 2008 film ‘Iron Man’, popping up in every movie inviting them to join the “Avengers Initiative” before taking on a larger role in ‘The Avengers’ (or ‘Avengers Assemble’ as it was known in the UK). We last saw Fury in the post-credit sequence of ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’ where he had vacationing on the Skrull flagship somewhere in space, although was heading back to Earth following the events of the film.
Outside of his MCU work, Samuel L. Jackson has recently starred in the 2019 movie ‘Shaft’ in the along with reprising his role as Elijah Price in ‘Glass’, the follow up to 2000’s ‘Unbreakable’. He also popped up in the David Tennant/Michael Sheen lockdown comedy ‘Staged’, and is next due to lend his voice to Quibi’s animated comedy series ‘Futha Mucka’ alongside Ryan Reynolds.
The ‘Nick Fury‘ series joins the growing pile of Marvel projects due to arrive on Disney+ over the next few years. These kick off December 2020 with ‘WandaVision‘, which will be followed by ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘Loki‘ in 2021. After that, we get ‘She-Hulk‘, which will star the fantastic Tatiana Maslany, and then (at some point) we have ‘Hawkeye‘, ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘Ms. Marvel’. We don’t know when the ‘Nick Fury’ series would fit into that list, but we’ll let you know when we have more.
