‘The Witcher’: Season 2 “First Look” Clips & Trailer, Season 3 Renewal, ‘Blood Origin’ Set Tour & More!

Netflix has released not one, but TWO “first look” clips AND a trailer for The Witcher Season 2, which returns this December on the streaming service. If that wasn’t enough, they have also announced a Season 3 renewal, another anime film, and released a The Witcher: Blood Origin set tour!

The Witcher Season 2

Season 1 of ‘The Witcher’ followed Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggling to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtled him toward the powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan), a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

As we head into Season 2, convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The first clip features Geralt reconnects with his old friend Nivellen, played by Kristofer Hivju (‘Game Of Thrones’)…

The second clip sees Ciri and Geralt dealing with a monster in the house

Returning season one cast includes Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper as Murta, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpen Zigrin, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Mbomio as Dara, Anna Shaffer as Triss, and Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina.

They are joined by by new cast Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Born as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Simon Callow as Codringher, Liz Carr as Fenn, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle as Ba’lian, and Chris Fulton as Rience.

If all that wasn’t enough, they also confirmed the ‘The Witcher’ has been renewed for Season 3!

The Witcher: Blood Origin

In addition to the main Witcher series, they also dropped a little “behind the scenes” look at the upcoming limited prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of ‘The Witcher’‘Blood Origin’ will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.

The series stars Laurence O’Fuarain (‘Vikings’, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Into the Badlands’) who plays Fjall, who was born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King but carries a deep scar within – the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.

Joining him are Michelle Yeoh (‘Star Trek: Discovery’) as Scían, the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves. No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart. When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent; And Sophia Brown (‘Giri/Haji’, ‘The Capture’) as Éile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the Continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.

On top of all those announcements, they also mentioned that, following the recent ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ anime film, they will be making a new anime movie, however, no further details were given. They also have interestingly announced they are expanding the franchise with a “kids and family series”, but again, no more details were given!

The Witcher‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 17th December 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
