Season 1 and half of Season 2 available now

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video UK has picked up the MGM+ series Billy The Kid, from ‘Vikings’ creator Michael Hirst, with all episodes (so far) available on the streaming service in the UK right now.

The epic romantic adventure is based on the life of famous American outlaw Billy the Kid, also known as William H. Bonney, played by British actor Tom Blyth (The Gilded Age, Benediction). The story take us from his humble Irish roots to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond.

Blyth is joined by Daniel Webber (The Dirt, Escape From Pretoria) who plays Jesse Evans, another famous outlaw and leader of the Seven Rivers Gang. When they meet, Jesse has already embraced a life of crime: robbing stores and cattle rustling. Billy is attracted to his wild and reckless character and becomes Billy’s doppelganger of sorts – his shadow self, forever inviting him over to the dark side of life.

The cast also includes Eileen O’Higgins (The Irregulars, Dead Still) as Kathleen McCarty and Alex Roe (Siren, Hot Summer Nights) as Pat Garrett.

‘Billy the Kid’ was created and executive produced by Michael Hirst, the man behind epic historical dramas such as ‘Vikings’ and ‘The Tudors’. Acclaimed director Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, His Dark Materials) is behind the camera for several episodes.

Also exec producing are Donald De Line for De Line Pictures; Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television; And Otto Bathurst, and Toby Leslie for One Big Picture. ‘Billy the Kid’ is a co-production between EPIX Studios and MGM International Television Productions, in association with Nordic Entertainment Groups streaming service Viaplay.

Billy The Kid‘ Season 1, and half of Season 2 (the second part of season two hasn’t aired in the USA yet) are available on Prime Video UK right now.
