‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’, the much-anticipated prequel to the long-running romantic saga, has debuted its official trailer, offering a sweeping first look at the epic new drama coming to MGM+ in August.
After 11 years of epic romance on the groundbreaking series ‘Outlander’, the timeless tale continues, or rather begins, on the eve of an earlier Jacobite rebellion. The prequel explores the lives and relationships of two couples as they fight against all odds to be together: the parents of Claire Randall, Julia Moriston (played by Hermione Corfield [We Hunt Together]) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine [War Horse]), and the parents of Jamie Fraser, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater [Pennyworth]) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy [Condor’s Nest]).
In addition to Corfield, Irvine, Slater, and Roy, the series also stars Tony Curran (Your Honor) as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross (Casualty) as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford (Ackley Bridge) as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander (Pistol) as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill (Industry) as Ned Gowan.
Set between the battlefields of World War I and the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, the trailer teases a dual-timeline narrative filled with longing, rebellion, and the enduring power of love. While the story will be familiar territory for longtime fans, ‘Blood of my Blood’ is designed as a standalone series, welcoming new viewers while offering rich backstory for existing fans of the original.
‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ Season 1 premieres Saturday, 9th August 2025 on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK, with new episodes airing weekly. The drama has already been renewed for Season 2.

I Think Harriet Slater would be great choice as Jean Grey In MCU
I Think Hermione Corfield would be great choice as Wonder Woman/Princess Diana of Themyscira In James Gunn Reboot DCEU
While I’m looking forward to it, it’s a shame that Outlander: Blood of my Blood and the main show aren’t on one of the bigger streaming services so that more people can watch them. Not many people are interested in MGM+, even with the steep discounts that the service frequently offers. I used to hear a lot more people talking about Outlander when the first five seasons were still on Amazon Prime.
It’s on netflix in other regions
